Welcome to IIA Himachal Pradesh Chapter
Out of these various arms of the central IIA body, it’s our pride & privilege to convey that the IIA Himachal Pradesh chapter is one of the most vibrant chapters.
We continuously strive to empower the architecture profession & education by organizing a series of events around the year like The Knowledge Sharing Series (KSS) & Social Interactive Series fostering camaraderie.
Apart from these, we are invited by various Govt. agencies over matters of public welfare by means of sharing insights on bye-laws formulation & other policy development initiatives.
Message from Our Chairman

Chairman
It is a privilege and a responsibility to serve as the Chairperson of the IIA Himachal Pradesh Chapter for the term 2026–28.
My vision for this tenure is simple: “to build a more active, connected and progressive architectural fraternity in Himachal Pradesh, with a stronger voice at the state and national level.”
I believe the strength of our Chapter lies in the participation and contribution of its members. Our focus will therefore be on professional excellence, architects’ welfare, membership growth, education, meaningful events and addressing issues that affect the practice of architecture in our state.
We will work as one Chapter with two Centres, Shimla and Dharamshala—and create opportunities for every member to participate and contribute.
My role will be to provide direction and represent the Chapter at various forums, but the real strength of this tenure will come from the collective efforts of our office bearers, Executive Committee, committee heads and every member of the fraternity.
I invite all members to come forward with ideas, experience and energy.
Let us move from participation to contribution, from discussion to action, and together build a stronger IIA Himachal Pradesh Chapter.
Outgoing Chairman’s Emotional Farewell Address
IIA Himachal Pradesh Chapter | First and Final GBM & Handover of Charge
Respected senior architects, esteemed members of the IIA, office bearers, academicians, young architects, and all my colleagues,
For me, today is not just a formal meeting. It is a milestone full of emotion that I will remember for the rest of my life. This is the first and final General Body Meeting of my tenure, and I stand before you today as the outgoing Chairman. My heart holds a sense of fulfilment, countless memories, and deep gratitude to all of you.
First of all, I want to thank each of you from the bottom of my heart. I will always be indebted to you for the trust you placed in me, for the support you gave at every step, and for the guidance you offered throughout my tenure. Your trust gave me the courage to carry this responsibility, and your support gave me the strength to turn every challenge into an opportunity.
For me, the office of Chairman was never just a responsibility. It was a privilege to serve my profession, my institution, and the architectural community of Himachal Pradesh. Whatever we achieved on this journey is not the accomplishment of any one person. It is the result of our collective effort, trust, and cooperation.
Key Achievements of the Tenure
During this tenure, I had the opportunity to attend every National Council meeting and the major national events. Representing Himachal Pradesh on these platforms was a matter of great pride for me. On every occasion, I tried to present the voice of Himachal Pradesh and its architectural community with strength and sincerity.
One of my key initiatives was to bring three important groups in the field of architecture onto a single platform:
- Architecture educational institutions
- Architects working in private practice
- Architects working in government departments

Former Chairman IIA HP Chapter (2020-22, 2023-25) &
Present National Council Member IIA (Co-opted for Term 2026-28)
I firmly believe that when education, private practice, and government engage in dialogue, understand one another, and move forward together, new paths open up for the growth of our profession and new possibilities are born.
To connect students with the IIA and encourage their professional development, IIA Students’ Chapters were established at NIT Hamirpur and the School of Architecture, Kangra. Our young architects are the future of our profession, and bringing them into the institution has been a matter of special satisfaction and pride for me.
In addition, a programme was organised to connect diploma-level architecture institutions with the wider professional community, to encourage dialogue, understanding, and cooperation across all levels.
Providing financial assistance to families affected by the disasters of 2023 and 2025 was an important part of our chapter’s social commitment. Standing with society in difficult times is not only our responsibility; it also reflects the humane values of our profession. Alongside this, a range of professional, social, and community activities were organised.
My aim behind all these efforts was never simply to organise events or compile a list of achievements. My dream was for the IIA to become a platform where every member feels connected, respected, heard, and involved. If we have been able to carry this spirit forward, that will be the greatest success of our tenure.
This Institution Belongs to All of Us
Today, as I hand over charge to a new team, there is one thing I especially want to say:
The true strength of any institution lies not in its positions, but in the unity, trust, and collective spirit of its members.
Positions come and go, and leadership changes, but our responsibility towards the institution and our profession always remains. Today I step down as Chairman, but my bond with this institution and my responsibility towards it do not end here.
Our views may differ, our priorities may differ, and our ways of working may differ too. But our goal must be one: to enhance the dignity of the architectural profession and to make the IIA stronger, more inclusive, and more influential.
This is our collective strength, and this should also be our greatest identity.
Heartiest Congratulations and Best Wishes to the Newly Elected Team
On this occasion, I extend my heartiest congratulations and best wishes to the newly elected team of the IIA Himachal Pradesh Chapter.
From today, a new chapter of responsibility, energy, and possibility begins for you. I hope the new team will take the chapter to new heights with its experience, energy, and vision. You will face new challenges as well as new opportunities. I am fully confident that you will meet every challenge with cooperation, coordination, and positive thinking, and turn every opportunity into progress for the institution.
I urge all the elected office bearers to take every member along, to respect everyone’s views, and to place the broader interest of the institution above all else. Leadership is not merely about making decisions. It is about taking people along, building trust, and giving direction to collective potential.
My heartfelt wish is that your tenure becomes a new chapter of achievement, unity, and growth for our profession.
I also urge all members to give the new team their full cooperation, support, and constructive suggestions. Remember, an institution can progress only when we rise above personal differences, put the collective interest first, and move forward hand in hand.
As the outgoing Chairman, my support, guidance, and good wishes will always be with the new team. Whenever I am needed, I will be available for this institution and my colleagues.
Gratitude and Farewell
Finally, in this emotional moment, I sincerely thank all my colleagues, office bearers, seniors, young architects, and every member who contributed to making this journey a success. Behind every achievement of this tenure lie your trust, hard work, and support.
If anything I said or did during my tenure hurt any colleague, or if any decision of mine caused anyone pain, I humbly ask for your forgiveness. My aim was always to work in the interest of the institution and the profession. Perhaps not every decision was perfect, but my intentions and my commitment were always honest towards the institution.
Today I retire from the office of Chairman, but my commitment to the IIA and the architectural profession will never retire. The position may change, but my association with this institution, my respect for this profession, and my affection for all of you will always remain. I will continue to be available to support the institution and all my colleagues.
Let us not make this occasion merely a moment of farewell, but a resolve for a new beginning. Let us all work together, continuously, for a bright future for architecture in Himachal Pradesh, built on equal opportunity, unity, and professional excellence. When future generations look back on our time, may they see an architectural community that was united, compassionate, and committed to taking its profession to new heights.
Once again, my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your trust, affection, and support.
Long live the architectural profession!
Long live the unity of architects!
Long live the IIA Himachal Pradesh Chapter!
Thank you. Jai Hind.
